I love drunk Jorm.
I took these. A long time ago. With my old point and shoot. Those were the days. Yay!

It was a rough day trying to find a portrait subject today. It took me 3 hours to find someone, and I probably asked about 10 people over 3 different areas of the city while on breaks between paid jobs today. I was working an event at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights tonight, and Matthew was there as the events manager for Half Pints Brewing Co., which supplied the beverages for the event. After I had finished my job, I tried to find someone at the event to photograph for this project. Matthew has this incredible beard, but I didn’t want to bother him while he was working. After I finished working, I wandered around The Forks for about 40 mins, and started talking with some skaters and BMXers. I couldn’t find anyone there that would commit to be photographed, and just then I saw Matthew walking with his boss to the parking lot to go home.
Matthew agreed to be a part of the project, while his boss went and got the car. Aside from being passionate about beer, and having a great job working for the brewery, Matthew’s hobby’s include dungeons and dragons, and lego.
As we were making this portrait, we could hear people making remarks about his beard. Matthew tells me he hears comments like that every single day. He has been actively growing the beard for about a year, but has not been clean shaved in close to 4 years. I told him that my girlfriend would hate it if I decided to try to grow a beard like that, and he retorted that his girlfriend would hate it if he shaved it off.

It’s even bigger than last year! A ridiculous amount of cakes, fruit shakes, 3 indie/folk musical acts, an open mic for those brave enough to get on stage with a song or poetry, and finally The Boneyard Fools with a variety show to die for! All for $15, you ask? Yes!
8 years. So many cakes and shakes and songs. This may be the most fun you’ll have all year!
